Synopsis

Court—State Vs. A Nobody is the story of Chandu, a school dropout young boy who takes on odd jobs for a livelihood and once meets Jabili, an intermediate student from a wealthy, upper-caste family. They fall in love and spend time on the phone. The twist comes in the story when Mangapathi, a staunch male chauvinist, discovers their relationship. Determined to separate them, he falsely implicates Chandu in a POCSO case. So Chandu’s parents hire junior lawyer Teja to fight the case against Mangapathi in court.

Plus Points (+)

No doubt, Court—State Vs. A Nobody is a small-budget movie, but its story is very engaging compared to 100-crore budget movies, which fail to gain audience attention. The first half is totally revolving around introducing movie characters to audiences, like who Chandu is and why he dropped out from school and how he met Jabili and how Jabili's uncle Mangapathi did to separate Jabili and Chandu, while the other side, the second half, is completely shot in a courtroom where director Ram Jagadeesh is trying to spread awareness about the POCSO act in simple language.

From an audience perspective, I appreciate Ram Jagadeesh and his team's hard work and efforts, which they are putting into this movie.Yes, it is true that the movie has a pace issue, and sometimes it takes an audience's patience level test, but we forget that Court—State Vs. A Nobody is a drama movie, not an acting and comedy,

while the other side's second half looks like you are watching the 2023 Bollywood film Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, where Manoj Bajpayee plays the role of Adv. P. C. Solanki. The main highlight of the movie is Priyadarshi, who plays Surya Teja, a competent lawyer. Once again, he gets an interesting role and delivers a compelling performance. His dialogue delivery is neat, and during the courtroom proceedings, his expressions speak louder than words. It is a remarkable role in his career. After giving solid performance in Game Changer (2025), where Priyadarshi plays Ram's friend role, now he appears in Court - State Vs A Nobody as a lead cast where he plays the role of Teja, a novice independent lawyer.

The first time I saw Priyadarshi as a lawyer, I was immediately reminded of Arshad Warsi's 2013 film Jolly LLB. However, in the second half, his performance is excellent and commendable. His dialogues create suspense in the movie, making it even more engaging.

Minus Points (-)

The first half is slow-paced, and some scenes take the audience's patience level test. No doubt Ram Jagadeesh is a very talented director; the movie story and dialogues are perfect, but the problem comes in the pace, particularly in the first half.Priyadarshi's performance as Teja is excellent, but in the second half, his legal arguments are compelling certain aspects of the case feel conveniently scripted, which are a little bit less engaging.

Overall, Court—State Vs. A Nobody is a legal drama movie that totally revolves around the POCSO Act introduced in 2012 to protect children from sexual offenses. The movie is good, but there is a pace issue. I recommend this movie to every age group.
