Plus Points (+)
Hello friends, no doubt if you were born in any generation like millennial or Gen Z, I am 100% sure that you have watched the legendary movie Border (1997), directed by J. P. Dutta, in your lifetime. After heavy demand from the audience, director Anurag Singh goes one step ahead; he comes back with Border 2, where Border (1997) only focuses on the Indian Army, while Border 2 (2026) focuses on the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty appear on the lead screen, while on the other side, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, and Anya Singh appear as the female leads in this movie.
The first half is the mixture of drama, comedy, and some patriotism scenes where Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty share equal screen time, while the second half is the perfect combination of war, bold dialogue delivery from Sunny Deol, and some emotional scenes where the song "Jaate Hue Lamhon Jara Thehro Jara Thehro" is the backbone of the movie.
After the success of Gadar 2 (2023) and Jaat (2025), legendary actor Sunny Deol once again comes back with Border 2, where he plays the role of Lt. Col. Fateh Singh Kaler in the Indian Army. In the first half, his performance is decent, like you are watching any type of patriotism movie where only drama and some comedy scenes are seated in the front seat, but in the second half, he comes back with his old avatar of Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri from Border (1997), where his solid dialogues like "Kashmir toh chhod, tu bas ye bridge leke dikha" and "Tumhare Pakistan me itne aadmi nahi jitne hamare yaha eid me bakre katate hai" and more Sunny Deol dialogues are the main USP of this movie.
Varun Dhawan as Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya gives an outstanding performance as an officer who leads many soldiers. Yes, it is correct that Varun Dhawan is very popular among the Gen Z generation, but in Border 2, he steals the show with his comedy dialogues and emotional scenes, while Diljit Dosanjh as Fg Offr Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon gives a decent performance, and Ahan Shetty as Lt Cdr M. S. Rawat recreates his father Suniel Shetty’s iconic dialogue from Border (1997), “Shakti Maa, Shakti.”
Minus Points (-)
Many people think that Border 2 is the sequel to the old classic Border movie (1997), but that's not true. Both movies have some of the same scenes but are totally different stories with a new cast, where the second half is very interesting compared to the first one.
