Plus Points (+)
No doubt Coolie is the most awaited movie of 2025, and the best thing about this movie hype is that it is crashing the whole internet, because when Lokesh Kanagaraj works with Rajinikanth, then this will happen.
After the back-to-back success of superhit movies like Kaithi (2019), Master (2021), Vikram (2022), and Leo (2023), Lokesh Kanagaraj once again comes back with Coolie, where Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, and Shruti Haasan appear in the lead cast, while on the other side, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan appear in the supporting cast.
First half is the mixture of action, drama, and thriller, where the entry of Rajinikanth is watchable, while thesecond half is the perfect combination of revenge, action, and dramatic scenes. One of the best things about Rajinikanth movies is that they give you a social message in the ending or middle of the movie.
After getting mixed reviews of Vettaiyan (2024), Sir Rajinikanth once again appears in Coolie, where he plays Deva, a person who is finding his best friend's killers. In the first half, his performance is next level, like an ordinary man becoming extraordinary. In the last half, Rajinikanth brings charisma and charm through his natural acting and solid dialogue delivery.
I think the year 2025 is lucky for Nagarjuna because he is working back-to-back on high-budget movies like Kuberaa (2025) and Coolie (2025). Now, in this movie, he appears in the negative role of Simon Xavier (smuggler). The first-half performance is decent, and fans of Nagarjuna are definitely shocked watching him in a negative role.
The best thing about the movie is the diversity of the cast, like actors working together from different states and languages, like Nagarjuna (Telugu) and Shahir (Malayalam), and Aamir Khan (Bollywood) and Rajanikanth (Tamil).
Minus Points (-)
The first half is very interesting compared to the second half because the first half is a complete combination of surprises and suspense, but in the second half, the climax is predictable, offering no surprise or emotional high, and Aamir Khan’s role is easy to predict (cameo), while on the other side, Shruti Haasan’s role is underwritten. If the maker gives her more freedom to express herself in this movie, it will be better for this movie.
