Synopsis
Thaai Kizhavi is the story of Pavunuthayi, who is a 70-year-old moneylender. She is popular for her sharp tongue and uncompromising nature. Now she lives with her daughter and grandson instead of her three sons. She is on her deathbed, and when her three sons know that she is hiding some treasure or gold somewhere, what happens next, and why doesn't she live with her sons?
Plus Points (+)
Hello friends, we watch lots of movies where a mother sacrifices her dreams and goals to raise her sons, and when the sons become young, they leave their mother alone or put her into an old folks' home, and if she has property or gold, they respect her and care because of their selfish nature. This is very common in our society nowadays. If you like this type of movie, I think Thaai Kizhavi, directed by Sivakumar Murugesan, is the best, where you see how cruel and selfish this world.
First half is the mixture of some comedy moments between Pavunuthayi and local villagers. Here I thank director Sivakumar Murugesan, who highlighted these comedy moments where her own sons and son-in-law pray for her death. This scene is the strength of this movie, while the second half is the combination of some seriousness and social messages. The best thing about the Thaai Kizhavi movie is that the majority of the movie is filled with comedy and drama, where Nivas K. Prasanna's background music is the backbone of the movie.
After being popular from television serials like Chithi (1999–2001) and Annamalai (2002–2005), Radikaa Sarathkumar once again appears in Sivakumar Murugesan's Thaai Kizhavi, where she plays the role of Pavunuthayi. Back to the topic, in the first half, her performance is next level, like the whole village praying for her death. This comedic moment steals the show, especially in the first half, while the second half is good, but the comedy scenes are minor.
Minus Points (-)
First half is the perfect combination of comedy and dramatic moments, while the second half is a mixture of drama, social messages, and some emotional moments.
