Plus Points (+)

We all grew up watching lots of ancient Indian mythology and religious movies like Anniyan (2005), Garuda Purana (2023), and Rudra Garuda Purana (2025), which tell how the universe works and the journey of the soul after death, but director Arjun Janya goes one step ahead now; he comes with 45, an action thriller and drama movie that is based on Garuda Purana, where Shiva Rajkumar, Upendra, and Raj B. Shetty appear in the lead cast, while Rajendran, Jisshu Sengupta, and Pooja Ramachandran appear in supporting roles.

In the first half, the movie totally revolves around Upendra and Raj B. Shetty, where action thriller and drama are sitting in the front seat, while the second half of the movie is split into three worlds where Shiva Rajkumar, Upendra, and Raj B. Shetty all share the screen.

Here I thank director Arjun Janya, who is marking this kind of movie, which gives us both knowledge and entertainment. A new Gen Z generation doesn't know about what the Garud Puran is; by this movie, they have a little bit of knowledge about this ancient mythological scripture, while others say Arjun Janya's BGM (background music) is the backbone of the movie.

After giving a solid performance in Bhairathi Ranagal (2024), Shiva Rajkumar once again appears in Arjun Janya's 45, where he is playing the role of Shivappa. In the first half, he has no role, but in the second half, he steals the show with his solid entry and action scenes.

Upendra, who is playing the role of Rayappa in the movie, is becoming the bridge between Shiva Rajkumar and Raj B. Shetty. If we remove Upendra from this film, this movie becomes only an old-school dramatic movie. It is Upendra who is adding action, thriller, and some comedy to this movie. I am really impressed by him.

Gain popularity from Ondu Motteya Kathe (2017). Raj B. Shetty once again appears in 45, where he plays Vinay, a simple human being who lives peacefully with his mother. In the first half, his performance is outstanding; he is a common man who does everything to avoid his death, while in the second half, his emotional scenes make your day.

Minus Points (-)

The second half is more interesting and engaging compared to the first one. If editor K. M. Prakash trimmed some unwanted scenes, especially in the first half, it would be good from the audience's perspective.
