Synopsis

Parasakthi is a story of Chezhiyan, a fireman in the Indian Railway in the 1960s, living a peaceful life with his family in Tamil Nadu, but his peaceful life becomes restless when the Central Government declared Hindi to be the sole official language all over India, and his younger brother, Chinna, and more local students marched in a movement against the imposition of Hindi in Tamil Nadu. Why is Chezhiyan scared for Chinna, and who is Ratnamala?

Plus Points (+)

Hello friends, nowadays we hear of language wars in every state of India. Like in Mumbai, some places Marathi speaking is compulsory, and in Kerala, Kannada speaking is compulsory due to strict rules by local communities in their states. Back to the topic, to highlight this type of incident in Indian history, director Sudha Kongara comes up with Parasakthi, which means supreme power. When the central government declared Hindi to be the sole official language all over India, at that time the slogan of the central government was "one language, one nation."

The first half is a mixture of history, drama, and romance, where Sivakarthikeyan and Sreeleela's on-screen romance is amazing, while the second half is a combination of some past real-life incidents, protests, and dramatic scenes, where G. V. Prakash Kumar's background music is the backbone of the film.

If you're an arts student or history lover, I think Parasakthi is the best for you, because in this you see that some unsung heroes of the 1960s protect against the central government. The movie is good in terms of history and drama, but if Sathish Suriya, who is the editor of this movie, trimmed some scenes, especially in the second half, it would be good for the audiences.

After giving back-to-back super hit movies in the past like Amaran (2024) and Madharaasi (2025), SK, aka Sivakarthikeyan, is once again back with Parasakthi, a political history drama movie where he plays the role of Chezhiyan. In the first half, his performance is decent; a local railway fireman lives a peaceful life, minding his own business, but in the second half, his performance is outstanding, like you are watching the movie Rebel (2024).

Minus Points (-)

The second half is more engaging compared to the first one, and if some scenes in the second half that don't add any type of value to the movie are trimmed, it will be better for this movie.
