Plus Points (+)

‎Hello friends, there are many actors in Tamil cinema who make movies frequently, like Sivakarthikeyan, Vijay Sethupathi, Silambarasan TR, and more, but Suriya is one of these superstars who makes a movie once in a year, like Kanguva (2024), Retro (2025), and now Karuppu (2026). After mixed responses from Karuppu and Retro, now Suriya fans are excited about his most awaited movie, Karuppu, and if you're a true fan of Suriya, I'm telling you that Karuppu is a mixed masala movie where action, drama, and romance are the lead emotions.
‎When I was watching this movie in the theater, I suddenly remembered the Kantara 2 (2025) movie in the second half because Annappa is possessed by a village deity, the same as Saravanan, a lawyer who gets possessed by a village deity and starts to fight against injustice. The overall movie experience is outstanding, especially in the second.
‎As we know, in this movie Suriya appears in a dual role, Saravanan and Karuppuswamy, so director RJ Balaji divided this movie into two parts where the first half completely revolves around Saravanan's character, a calm lawyer who fights against injustice within the system. He is slow and follows all court rules and regulations, but Karuppuswamy, a god who enters Saravanan, doesn't follow any rules and regulations he only believes in justice.
‎As we discussed above after mixed responses from Kanguva (2024) and Retro (2025), Saravanan Sivakumar, aka Suriya, once again comes back with Karuppu, an action drama and thriller movie where he plays dual roles. In the first half, his performance as a lawyer is decent, fighting against injustice and other social drama scenes, but the real action comes in the second half when Karuppuswamy is sitting in the driver's seat.
‎After playing Ramya's role in Good Bad Ugly (2025), Trisha Krishnan and Suriya once again appear on the same screen after 20 years in Karuppu, where she is playing Preethi's role, a lawyer and love interest of Saravanan. Her performance is good, especially in the first half, where she is fighting Binu's case, struggling to get justice in a case that has been pending for years.
‎While On the other side, RJ Balaji, who is the director of this movie and playing the villain role in this movie as Baby Kannan, has an outstanding performance where dialogue delivery is the biggest strength of the movie.

Minus Points (-)

‎First half comes with drama and courtroom scenes where Suriya, Trisha Krishnan, and RJ Balaji share equal scenes, but the second half is only for true fans of Suriya you get everything you expected from him drama, mass masala action, and, in the ending, a social message
