Synopsis
Patriot is the story of Dr. Daniel James, a scientific analyst who works for the government agency. DRW believes that everyone needs some privacy and personal space where government or big tech companies don't spy on them, but one day he knows that Shakti Corporation, a technology company run by Shakti Sundaram, secretly installs spyware in their phones to spy on them, so the company files a false case against him, so he quits his job and flies to London, where he runs a YouTube channel called Vimathan. What's happening next? And who is Shakti Sundaram, and what is his motive?

Hello friends, after giving back-to-back hit movies like Manorathangal (2024) and Thalavara (2025), Director Mahesh Narayanan once again comes back with Patriot, where Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Fahadh Faasil appear in the lead cast, and Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, and Revathi appear in the supporting cast.
First half is the mixture of drama and some spy and tech-related scenes where Fahadh Faasil's character becomes the center of attraction, and Mammootty's performance is decent as Dr. Daniel James, while the second half is the combination of drama, thriller, and action where Mohanlal's presence is limited but value for money.
Yes, it is true that we already watched lots of movies on spy and surveillance by tech companies and governments, like Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (2016), Thupparivaalan (2017), The Greatest of All Time (2024), and more, but Mahesh Narayanan goes one step ahead through his movie. He indirectly talks about spyware like Pegasus, how it secretly steals your personal data, and sends what you like and don't to servers of tech companies and more. This means the movie gives knowledge about cybersecurity with entertainment.
After working in Vandae Maatharam (2010) and Peranbu (2019), Mammootty, who is very popular in Malayalam movies, now appears in director Mahesh Narayanan's Patriot, where he plays the role of Dr. Daniel James. In the first half, his performance is decent, but in the second half, he steals the show with his solid dialogue delivery.

First half is very engaging and interesting compared to the second half, but if you are a fan of Mohanlal, I think the second half is only for you.
